Re-thatch in Ickham near Canterbury in Kent
Padfield Master Thatchers have currently completed this long straw project in the idyllic village of Ickham near Canterbury Kent.
Cedar wood shingles were replaced by a 300mm coat of thatch and topped with a flush ridge. A flush Ridge is typical of barn conversions in Kent, to uphold the tradition with the conservation and its simplicity is its beauty .
This project was 5 weeks from commencement to completion, we work alongside many Architects covering Kent, Surrey and Sussex and we are proud of our craft and continuing the wonderful skill of thatching.
For fire regulations the Dorset model was applied before thatch commencement, which is highly effective and passed many vigorous tests.
